On the other side of the spectrum, there are those who prefer to have the least number of apps possible, so as to save time when taking care of their productivity stuff. If you identify with the latter group, then read on as we will take a look at Acompli, a really cool iPhone productivity app that serves as an email app, calendar, file manager and more. Let’s start with email, the most prominent part of Acompli.
Once you open the app, the first thing it asks from you is to sign in to your email account. It only provides support for Exchange and Gmail accounts though, which might prove inconvenient for those who rely on other email providers, like iCloud for example. Once you start using the mail section of Acompli, a few interesting features aimed to improve productivity become apparent. For example, when you open a message, all the relevant options to interact with it are located at the top right of the screen. From there you can mark the email as read or unread, flag it, delete it, archive it or place it into a folder. All with one tap. The best feature of the email section of Acompli though, is its filtering options. Just as other email apps, Acompli allows you to filter your messages to see only the unread or the flagged ones. But the app also lets you specifically filter messages with attachments, which as you might guess, is great for searching only across work files or other documents. While email will be, for most, the main section within Acompli, the lower part of the screen lets you access other very important sections, like the app’s calendar and others shown below.
Calendar
The calendar section of Acompli, while simple, it more than gets the job done. The calendar shows you a two-week view with all your upcoming events shown on the lower half of the screen. From there you can create new events, and since this calendar section is integrated with your native calendar, things remain in sync all across.
Files
This will definitely be for many one of the coolest sections of Acompli. As its name states, this section smartly links directly to all the different attached files you received on your emails and houses them in its own dedicated area. Even more, it also provides its own filters that let you separate, slides, images and documents, making it easy to find the file you need. Once you find the file you were looking for, you can send it via email and can even attach another file, a location or even an appointment to it. Neat.
People
Another really interesting section within Acompli is People, which serves as its own contacts app on steroids. The reason for this is that once you tap on a contact, you can either send an email to them or see all the different emails you received from them. Additionally, each contact has its own filters, letting you see the appointments you have with that specific contact, as well as the files they sent you. And that’s all there is to it. The app is free as well, so if you are looking for a tool that could save you some time and that packs several features without being overwhelming, you should definitely give it a try.
